Caltena - Mountain Hut

I arrived at this beautiful, charming refuge via a road that seemed like a fairy tale to me. It may have been the complicity of the sunset lights but as I went up I opened up to various glimpses of beautiful rocky peaks, very green meadows, barns full of flowers, typical houses, scented woods, a fascinating road. The refuge, among the meadows, is very welcoming inside and well furnished with typical Trentino taste and with wood that smells in every corner. The dinner was perfect. Compliments to Giulietta, the cook, for the choice of raw materials, flavor combinations and plating. As an entree, there is a crunchy bundle of prawns with house mayonnaise. We then continued with tagliolini with porcini mushrooms and a mushroom soup with a very pure flavour. As a second course, a particular and delicious dish is melted primiero cheese with eggs and onion, all together in a sort of very tasty omelette. To finish, two scoops of ice cream made by them with mugo and elderberry, unique. I accompanied the entire dinner with Nosiola. A perfect dinner at a fair price and seasoned with everyone's kindness and professionalism, in a family environment. One of the most welcoming places I've ever been. One of the best mountain cuisines I have tried over many years. Well done!

A dream weekend! The refuge is surrounded by greenery and it is impossible not to relax and enjoy the peace and relaxation that only the mountains can provide! Far from the town center (about 10 minutes by car) it enjoys a perfect location if you want to isolate yourself from the chaos! The rooms are simple, but clean and well looked after, equipped with telephone and towels which are changed every day (if requested) The quality of the breakfast and the restaurant is excellent! I loved the possibility of being able to choose the dishes on the menu at breakfast too (pancakes, yogurt with fruit, waffles, cold cuts, cheeses, eggs,..) which were freshly prepared (the delicious ham and cheese omelette), but also the Homemade cakes were delicious! Definitely a very nice and intimate place, especially suitable for couples Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff! A wonderful experience to repeat

Every year we come when we can to this splendid place to enjoy an excellent dinner based on local products (we didn't stay overnight so I can't comment on the rooms). Friendly staff, fast service, good dishes that can be selected from different options. The portions are between good and plentiful and the price is absolutely right. Very recommended, especially after a wonderful walk in the surrounding area.
